Savoniabic -gymnastics at Sairaalakatu Campus gym hall on Wednesdays at 16:15-18:00 until May 26th

Savoniabic - gymnastics are meant for both students and staff of Savonia UAS in Kuopio. For members of SAVOTTA it costs 2€/gym and for non-members 4€. The fee must be payed to CafeSAVOTTA. Several gyms can be payed at once. If the gym is not fully booked before hand, one can also pay it to the instructor at the beginning of the gym. Here is the programme for the spring:

Savonia Club in May

Savonia club is a new way of meeting other students. The next club gathering will be on Wednesday May 19th starting at 20:00 in Amarillo restaurant of Kuopio. The participants will be pampered with a significant load of live music and a student discount of 15% from the menu prices of Amarillo!

SAVOTTA Parties -part 2: Free tickets for members!

SAVOTTA organises a Singles' Party on Tuesday 13. April 2010 in Passion. 200 free tickets will be handed out for the members of SAVOTTA. The tickets can be fetched from CafeSAVOTTA starting from Wednesday 7. April or from your campus Event Info. The dates when the Event Info is in your campus will be announced later. The tickets from Passion cost 3€. In the Singles' Party you get to try speed dating and swig some Love Punch.

WINTERFEST 2010

Traditional students’ winter fest will take place on the ice of Valkeisenlampi in the heart of Kuopio on February 23rd at 12.00. There will be, among other things, team competitions, snowdrift soccer, ice fishing competition, snowdrift bowling, human curling, free sausages and juice, etc.

SPORTS – FREE INNINGS FOR MEMBERS OF SAVOTTA

Just to remind you about the free sports possibilities, more time is now available for the Student Union members in Kuopio and Iisalmi. In Kuopio the members can go to Kuopio hall and in Iisalmi to the sports hall. In Varkaus the sports possibilities han be enquired from WaIO. The times can be booked in Kuopio and Iisalmi as follows:

Kuopio- halli

• Wednesdays from 3p.m. to 4p.m. Floorball
• Thursdays from 3p.m. to 4p.m. Football

Both turns are in free use for the members of Student Union. Prepare to show your student card.

Iisalmi sports hall

• Tuesdays from 4p.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Agrology student Riikka Suutari (riikka.e.suutari[ at ]student.savonia.fi) will inform the students in Iisalmi about the sports turns and bookings. The first turn will be on October 20, 2009. The turn is only for the members of the Student Union.

In this letter you find current information and the latest news from the Student Union.

At the moment we are recruiting new Finnish students to take an active part in the Student Union Board and Representatives.

cafeSAVOTTA

The Student Union cafeteria, cafeSAVOTTA is open at the Sairaalakatu campus at Kuopio. One can also buy copies and copy cards and order course books from the cafeteria. The Student Union’s membership issues can also be sorted out in the cafeteria. Board games are also available for student to use. The cafeteria is open from Monday to Thursday form 8a.m. to 6p.m. and on Fridays from 8a.m. until 3p.m.

BILESAVOTTA – SAVOTTA PARTY – FREE TICKETS FOR MEMBERS OF SAVOTTA

The SAVOTTA PARTY in Night Club Passion is on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The theme of the first party is Bile Maailma, in other words there will be competitions and lots of fun activities. 200 tickets will be handed out for free exclusively for the Student Union members. From CafeSavotta you can get your free ticket starting from Wednesday 28 of October The tickets can also be bought as entering the party with 3€.

Here is the October release of the newsletter of the Student Union SAVOTTA. The hectic beginning of the new semester is leaving behind and from now on you will be informed about current issues and events by the Student Union about once a month.

STUDENT CARDS

There have been some serious delays in delivering the student cards this year which has caused problems to the freshmen. The company in responsible for the delivery, Esko Otava Oy, has failed to deliver the student cards in time. Also the other Universities of Applied Sciences all over Finland have suffered the same problem. All the cards will be delivered as soon as they arrive from the deliverer.

The Student Union regrets the inconveniences this delay has caused you.

cafeSAVOTTA

The Student Union has opened a new cafeteria to the campus area of Sairaalakatu at Kuopio. One can also buy copies and copy cards and order course books from the cafeteria. BILESAVOTTA – SAVOTTA PARTY – FREE TICKETS FOR MEMBERS OF SAVOTTA

Student Union organises twice per academic year the SAVOTTA PARTY in Night Club Passion. The autumn’s party is on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The theme of the first party is Bile Maailma, in other words there will be competitions and lots of fun activities. 200 tickets will be handed out for free exclusively for the Student Union members. Busses will be arranged for the students from Varkaus and iisalmi if there are enough party people willing to join the fun. Please keep this in mind and pay attention to further information.

TUTORING IN MOODLE

A new course about tutoring has been opened in Moodle which is available for all students. The course is called Tuutorit tiedottaa. The purpose of this course will be to serve as a common information forum for the tutors and students. The English version of this course is still under construction and we kindly ask you to give us some ideas for it. So please, all international students give your comments and ideas about the developing of international tutoring to your tutors, who will then help develop the Moodle services.
